Health and well-being are the company's concerns
“People complicate health and well-being too much”, revealed the dr. Roomes, in an interview, and reported that the key to maintaining both concepts is even simple, highlighting some good practices for this:
- good nutrition;
- drinking water all day;
- more movement;
- end of harmful habits, such as smoking.
In this sense, companies can play an active role in all the issues mentioned above. Even taking the lead to make the smoke-free workplace without interfering in the motivation of its employees.

1. Ban on smoking in all company premises
Radical, but functional. Although the country does not prohibit people from smoking in certain places – only in specific, closed environments – the company can prevent people from smoking inside its premises. And this is where the company started its journey to create a smoke-free workplace.
2. Identification of collusion with something harmful
The next step was to raise awareness that the company couldn't take part – either by collusion or complicity – in the employee's decision to do harm to themselves.
I.e: they stopped investing in facilitating something that only has to harm their own human resources. And that was the message conveyed to them.
3. A deadline has been set
The decision to prevent people fromand smoke in the workplace seems extreme, but Dr. Roomes points out that a term to employees: two years for the implementation of this policy.
More than enough time for troubled professionals to digest or leave for a new company. Or work unhurriedly to quit addiction or to smoke only before and after working hours.
The professional also points out that campaigns were carried out for theraise awareness of the harms of smoking – as well as the benefits of quitting smoking.
