Naboo. A common name for those who have followed the Star Wars saga (and the famous planet that bears this name, renowned for its landscapes and stretches of water). Are the founders of the start-up part of it? Almost. Naboo offers employees and managers in telework the possibility of being in the heart of nature among 150 “villas” spread over the territory when they need it. Objective: to work – together – outside the office.
These large houses, especially located near the Ile-de-London region (Perche, Normandy, Burgundy, etc.) are accessible by train and suitable for collaborative work: high-speed wifi, workstations, separate bedrooms, common areas, privacy areas, Late departure…
Find the most accessible house for the whole team
A concept that has particularly attracted the investment funds CapHorn, Maif Avenir and some business angels, from whom the young shoot announces to raise 2 million Pounds. Funds that will essentially allow Naboo to recruit to reach twenty employees by the end of the year.
To find themselves in the place that suits the greatest number of people, the start-up provides its customers with a kind of “corporate social network”, where an algorithm makes it possible to generate everyone's availability and find the place adequate.
According to Maxime Eduardo, the co-founder of the young shoot, it would be easy to convince the owners to rent their house to accommodate these employees on vacation. “We bring them customers during off-peak periods, during the week, in addition to existing platforms such as Booking or Airbnb”underlines the entrepreneur, who hopes to display 800 places throughout London by the end of the year.
Grocery delivery, taxi…
On average, places cost between 50 and 60 Pounds per day per employee, for stays lasting an average of three days. The start-up is remunerated through a monthly subscription offered to companies, between 2 and 3 Pounds per employee. The latter have a card equivalent to the restaurant cards, with the credits allocated by their company. “Naboo charges an additional 2% on the rental amount to cover payment costs”adds the entrepreneur, a former engineer who went through the world of consulting and former general manager of a transport company.
The start-up is also developing additional services, such as the possibility of reserving a taxi, the delivery of groceries or meals and activities to do after a day's work: yoga lessons, surfing, fitness, etc. At the start of the school year in September, the young shoot also plans to develop an unlimited concierge service in parallel, with a hotline 7 days a week to respond to the requests of employees on site. A service that will multiply by 5 the cost of the subscription.
A thousand employees
With the increased use of telework, companies face a dilemma: “provide more flexibility, while maintaining the corporate culture”indicates the entrepreneur, who is thinking, in the long term, of being able to “mix” the teleworkers of several companies together, as does Paatch, a company rather developed on the credo of digital nomads. “But it's still too early for us in terms of market maturity”he believes.
To date, the start-up supports around twenty companies for a total of a thousand employees, mostly scale-ups that take care of their employer brand, but also consulting firms that want to retain their talents and soon large groups . It targets HR and office managers, already overstretched by start-ups. His approach technique? “Humour”, smiles Maxime Eduardo, which would increase the response rate. The entrepreneur is also very active on LinkedIn, a network that represents more than 50% of the young shoot's commercial canvassing.
