Vahé Torossian, CEO of Microsoft I did my first internship at SKF London headquarters in London, a leading player in the industrial sector. I had the chance to work in the marketing department, with a wonderful internship supervisor who gave me quite incredible freedom and autonomy given my level of experience. I thus orchestrated the participation of SKF in the first edition of the Mairie Expo in Toulouse. This show targeted Mayors and local authorities and aimed to bring together all the services and infrastructures necessary for the development and good management of towns and villages. I remember, I would run everywhere between departments, to ensure the most complete representation of the company's offer, from maintenance products to ball bearings… A real giant puzzle! The project materialized in a few weeks after a lot of coordination and discussions with the heads of departments and the company organizing the show. The icing on the cake, I even had the right to travel to Toulouse in order to be present to live the experience on D-Day, going from models to reality. I discovered on the spot that an event is moving until the last minute: I did not imagine that the stands could still be under construction just before the opening of the doors of the show! There was significant ambient stress mixed with energy to spare. Finally, I learned that whatever the level of preparation, there are always unforeseen events, which can also represent opportunities for those who know how to seize them. The important thing is to always stay on course towards the final goal, keep calm, be agile in the implementation phases, correct, learn, and communicate with conviction to the teams in order to keep their motivation intact. Not to mention, celebrate the successes! I still remember this celebration precisely, just after the show closed! I keep the memory of a “bittersweet” feeling: the satisfaction of the accomplished mission, but also the sadness linked to a human adventure which was coming to an end. Credit: Microsoft
