Generation Y has peculiar ways of thinking and acting. They are usually quite energetic, creative and prioritize work-life balance. For this group, salary is not always what matters most when evaluating a job proposal, but the chance to innovate and the freedom to work in their own way. Is your company prepared to receive these professionals?

These people experience everyday life in a very different and particular way and see their occupation in a dynamic way and not just as a means of paying the bills. For them, a spontaneous and relaxed work environment can become more attractive than true salary stability, making them think twice about accepting a promotion or replacement if it doesn't offer a balance between personal and professional life. Being able to coordinate their own activities and listen to music while they work are examples of what can increase the level of happiness and, automatically, the performance of these professionals.

Millennials are extremely creative people and those who lead people of this generation should let them exercise this gift, thinking about innovation as one of the pillars that maintain a business. For this reason, entrepreneurship is something so present in the reality of this generation. The so-called “startups” are proof of how technology, creativity and urgency of results can be a good combination and generate good results.

When we talk about a sense of urgency, we can make a parallel to the average time that someone of this generation spends in their jobs, which is much shorter, since the important thing is no longer to build a solid career, but their satisfaction with today, not bothering to leave for tomorrow the eventual challenges they may face. Another characteristic that is very present in these professionals is the desire they feel to obtain new knowledge – which can end up becoming a difficulty in learning through traditional teaching methods.

It is also important to emphasize the connection that millennial professionals have with consumers of the same generation, that is, customers and employees who are “super connected” people, which can be the key to an alignment of expectations. Furthermore, millennials always want to go beyond these expectations, and having them as allies for the expansion of a business is knowing that they will work hard to overcome these goals and, consequently, overcome their own challenges.
